The B Course at the Ljubljana Faculty of Architecture, 1960–62

Known as the B Course at the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering, and Geodesy, Slovenia’s first post-secondary design programme was launched during the 1960/61 academic year by the architect Edvard Ravnikar (1907–93) as part of the University of Ljubljana’s curricular reform. This modern and advanced programme emphasized experimentation, research, and a systematic and analytic approach, all of which were crucial for the development of design in Slovenia. Unfortunately, the B Course ended in 1962. Many of the students who attended this programme later became groundbreaking figures in both graphic and industrial design in Slovenia.
