{"id":1642,"date":"2024-10-26T14:49:24","date_gmt":"2024-10-26T12:49:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/retrotopia.eu\/?post_type=archive&#038;p=1642"},"modified":"2024-12-12T20:49:16","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T19:49:16","slug":"domestic-theatre-concept","status":"publish","type":"archive","link":"https:\/\/retrotopia.eu\/en\/archives\/domestic-theatre-concept\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Domestic Theatre\u2019 concept, 1970s"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Domestic Theatre\u2019 was a speculative concept for the development of living spaces that was created at VNIITE in the early 1970s by Evgeny Bogdanov (1946\u20132021), Vladimir Paperny (b. 1944), and Alexander Ryabushin (1931\u20132012); the first two were graduates of the MVKhPU (previously known as the Stroganov School), while the third had been their instructor. <br>After analysing international developments, they concluded that the living spaces of the future should consist of functional and thematic zones that were adjustable and interchangeable\u2014just like theatre sets\u2014to meet the changing needs of residents. They proposed a solution in which mobile units allowed a structure\u2019s dimensions to be easily changed (as opposed to the rigid layout of traditional structures). Another take on this concept was the ,Domestic Information Machine&#8217; (DIM) project.<br> The series of explanatory illustrations on the concept of &#8216;Domestic Theatre&#8217; comes from the book &#8216;Living environment as an object of conceptual foresight.
