Ty i ja
Published in Poland during the 1960s and early 70s, Ty i ja (‘you and me’) was an influential lifestyle magazine that openly drew upon Western culture. Its first art director was Roman Cieślewicz (1930–96), an emerging graphic designer who quickly grew to fame and later became art director of Elle in Paris but unofficially continued working for Ty i ja at the same time. The magazine was known for its high-quality graphic design, especially its covers designed by Cieslewicz and other figures from the Polish School of Posters. Its fashion section consisted of creative collages using clippings from Elle, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar.
